Electricity is required in ever increasing volumes to power production, mobility, communication, digitalization, health and nearly all aspects of our lives and economic activities. Wind and sunshine provide us with an almost unlimited source of energy, but to date we have not been able to store this energy to any adequate extent. There is a requirement for a bulk power store technology, which enables electricity to be stored inexpensively at just a few cents per kilowatt hour, which enables stores of any size to be built and which is sustainable.
The CMBlu story begins with this simple yet fundamental consideration. CMBlu has set itself the task of technologizing this energy storage process, which the natural world has developed over the course of millions of years, and exploiting it on an industrial scale.
In 2011 a small team headed up by founder Dr. Peter Geigle starts researching the fundamentals of organic flow technology. CMBlu Energy AG is established in 2014 as a result of this successful and encouraging work. As a consequence, partnerships with major industrial corporations are established and a strategic focus is put in place. In 2018 and 2019 the company’s headcount increases to 80 employees.
This success story is continued. The company consistently grows its team and puts the required manufacturing capacities in place. A testing center, in which potential buyers can get to know the technology and put it through its paces using their own load profiles and applications, is established to complement the multiple generations of batteries operated within the company.
The company is actively involved in national and local networks and associations. At national level in the BVES Bundesverband Energiespeichersysteme (German Energy Storage Association) and in the BEM Bundesverband eMobilität (German eMobility Association); at state and FrankfurtRheinMain metropolitan region level in the VDE Rhein-Main, IHK Hessen innovativ’s Startups meet Corporates network as well as Bayern Innovativ GmbH’s Energy Technology Cluster. At regional level in IHK Aschaffenburg’s Industrial Committee and in TH Aschaffenburg’s benefactor association.
